Oh yeh, woops.
Thought people might like to see Lipton's 'East European Farmer partisan thingy' type look.
Not got the period satchel yet, and some darker, heavier trousers are required. I do like the hat though.
He looks very shifty - I shall open fire on him without hesitation!
You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
my partisan look got scrapped.. imagine this with an mp40, you get the picture.
Equally, I would not hesitate to open fire on Kevin Rowland!!!

Humble apologies but I'm going to have to pull out of this game. Work has been scarily thin on the ground this year so far, and I have the dreaded MOT due. If anyone can take the vacant slot I'm not worried about the deposit, they've got a cheap game. Sorry to muck you about with the bookings, hope you have a great time.
sorry you cant make it ZB
bloody work eh!

i remembered getting this for a customer a while ago and have just got myself a copy of Commando Subaltern at War: Royal marine Operations in Yugoslavia and Italy 1944-45.
it has some interesting pictures of Commandos and partisans in Yugoslavia and I was wondering if anyone else had seen a copy? Tito's partisans are pretty regular, with batledress, captured German webbing and guns and Soviet side hats. Of course as our partisans are on 'both/all' sides they couldn't look the same.
The commando's look pleasingly dishevelled in the pictures, with a mix of helmets Berets and cap coomforters coupled with battledress, Denisons and leather jerkins.
anyway, I have to read it now.

Yes, there was at times a large amount of 'uniformity' within the partisan ranks, especially with the larger/better equipped units, either in Russian kit, captured German kit, or a set mix of the two.
As with the vast amount of wartime photographs though, it's likely that a fair amount were 'staged', and out on the frontlines, there was a much more variation, which is the look we're aiming at for the partisans at Op Lightning, equally as they'll have to portray both (or no!) side.
the sentry boxes are all cut and dimensioned, just need a couple of nice fine days to paint and assembly, then its on with the barrier.

I still had to cash your cheque, found it today and 'accidentally' set fire to it... shame eh?
Bugger you cant make it though mate. Hopefully the next one!
"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
Just a wee question about Partisan dress.
I saw the pics earlier in the thread and I was also using this pic from a book on the Red Army for inspiration :
My question was would a Telogreika , brown cords and a baker boy hat do fine? or is that a bit too regular army?
No longer involved in airsoft.

That's perfect, no problem at all! You can be as regular, or as irregular as you like.
I plan on probably wearing my Gymnastiorka as a shirt, underneath a debadged german tunic. depending on the weather, i'll either just go with the Gymnastiorka, or replace the german tunic with a russian greatcoat, which would give me a very regular army look.
As posted on a previous thread, I will mostly be looking like this as a Heer garrison player:
Does this work for others?
Obviously I can change the march boots for low boots, ditch the greatcoat and suchlike, I just thought it would be good if we could coordinate as much as possible.
Looking good, Martin. You can keep the jackboots and greatcoat on. (If you get hot, you can just wear Y-fronts underneath.)

You make a fine Guard.
I'll send some P.M.s and see if we can get some uniformity within the Garrison.
I plan to be kitted out as follows:
M42 Stahlhelm (ungarnished)
M40 Feldbluse with Infantry white shoulder boards
Greatcoat (loaned from Steiner, will wear as applicable)
M43 Hose
Low boots & Gaiters OR can do jackboots but prefer my lowboots for comfort
EM Belt with K98 pouches and breadbag
Gas Mask can
Kar98K rifle
I will also carry P38 pistol as it will be needed for any close range engagements but will keep it in a pocket rather than in holster.
“I wanted to come to the Volga at a specific location at a specific city. By chance it carries the name of Stalin himself. So don’t think I marched there for this reason – it could carry another name – but because there is a very important goal... this goal I wanted to take – and you know – we are very modest, we have it already."
Adolf Hitler, November 1942
"Comrades, Red Army men, commanders and political workers, men and women guerrillas! It is on your perseverance, staunchness, fighting skill and readiness to discharge your duty to the country that the defeat of the German-fascist army and the liberation of the Soviet land from the Hitlerite invaders depend! We can and must clear the Soviet land of Hitlerite vermin."

Does any member of the need a greatcoat as I have one they can borrow for the game ( I'll be wearing Saturday night)? I've also got various bits of spare German and Russian kit if any of the partisans are short on gear.
